Dr. Hardie

Dr. Hardie has been in practice for 19 years and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.  He grew up in Springfield, Missouri.  In high school he was student body president, co-captain of the football team, captain of the tennis team and photography editor of the school paper.  He attended Vanderbilt University where he was dorm president and Southwest Missouri State University where he was his fraternity president.  Dr. Hardie received his D.D.S. from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1990 where he was student council president.  He went on to earn his M.S. degree in Craniofacial Biology and certificate in orthodontics in 1992 from the University of Southern California, where he also completed his orthodontic residency.

He practiced in Santa Monica for a year before getting married and moving to San Diego.  He had practices in Carmel Valley and Carlsbad before late 1996.  Dr. Hardie has stayed on top of the latest advances in orthodontics by taking plenty of continuing education courses and is a member of the San Diego Academy of Orthodontics and the San Diego Young Orthodontists Study Club.  He was president of the San Diego Academy of Orthodontists in 2003.  He is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Diego Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, California Association of Orthodontists, the San Diego Academy of Orthodontists and the American Board of Orthodontics.  Dr. Hardie has published an article in the Journal of California Dental Association.


Dr. Hardie met his wife, Cynthia, in pre-school back in Missouri.  They have two sons William and Andrew.  In his spare time, Dr. Hardie spends time with his family and enjoys the San Diego climate and sporting activities.  He donates his time and services to the Boys and Girls Club, Escondido Christian School, several public schools, Calvin Christian School and the California Center for the Arts.
 
 

Dr. Workman

Dr. Workman grew up in the San Diego area, attending Mt. Carmel High School when she decided to pursue a career that makes people smile and increases their confidence. During high school, she was an active participant in the community as a musician in the San Diego Youth Symphony Orchestra, Civic Youth Orchestra, various ensembles at her high school, and was a student leader in ASB. She graduated as a National Honor Student and traveled to New York to pursue a biology major at Vassar College. She spent her junior year abroad at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland as a visiting medical student. During her college years, Dr. Workman volunteered in the health community, numerous musical ensembles, and as a tutor/research assistant in organic chemistry.

Dr. Workman attended dental school at the University of California, San Francisco. She was a national leader in the American Student Dental Association, received Article of the Year award for a national publication addressing access to care, was elected Who’s Who at UCSF, presented scientific research at an international symposium, and was involved with the local symphony. She spent her residency at Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics where she continued her extracurricular involvement with music. She is currently Board Eligible with the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and California Dental Association.


Dr. Workman is thrilled to be part of the Hardie Orthodontics team back in her home town of San Diego. She is married to Lt. Steve MacGillis, an Annapolis graduate and current pilot in the US Navy. In her spare time, she enjoys equestrian sports with her horse, playing in local musical ensembles, enjoying outdoor activities, and spending time with her husband.
